Garmin BaseCamp App Reviews

Esperem a próxima! I always use BaseCamp. Iy always worked great! But this updated version on 2.26.13 has a problem. Since I had it updated on the App Store, the program is no longer opening! Do not install this update! Expect the next one!

Be Aware

BE AWARE: This version stores your data in the following directory, ~/Library/Application Support/Garmin/Garmin BaseCamp/ Previous versions stored your data in the following directory, ~/Library/Application Support/Garmin/BaseCamp/ If you already have a previous version of BaseCamp installed make sure you move your data to the new location otherwise, when you launch BaseCamp, you will no longer see your data. Move the contents of BaseCamp into Garmin BaseCamp and all your data will re-appear. Despite the little hiccup mentioned above this is the best GPSr management software on the Mac and getting better with each update.

garmin preprogrammed data cards info wiped out

I pluged in etrex legend cx to mac ,preprogramed microSD info came up in base camp, app.then unexpectedly quit, after restarting progam all expensive information on microSD card was lost.

Cant view as you go...

Not bad for reviewing a trip or planning one. MapSource for the PC is the goal...I hope!

A great app

The best route management app for the Mac. Close to their Mapsource for Windows. Not perfect but getting there. Their Roadtrip for Mac just sucked and I uninstalled it. Found this app in the Mac Store and I am glad I did. C

Needs work in order to be useful

The App "looks" pretty, but it doesnt "work" pretty. Im interested in quality Topo maps and the ability to plan/track routes and waypoints. The App hangs too often and cannot handle transfers to and from GPS devices very well. (I am comparing this to MapSource - which is far superior to this product). For Birdseye imagery and TOPO maps - you need to buy a subscription. The Birdseye is probably worth it, but the TOPO maps are not very good (compared to the MapSource sets). I am hoping for this App to improve and work more efficiently in the future.

Crashes on open in Lion

This version does not open in Lion OSX on my core duo Macbook Air.

Just does not work

iMac 3.4GHz Intel Core i7 16GB RAM running 10.6.8 and this software will not start up. Ive re-installed--nothing. Ive gone back to the older version and no problems. I would love to use the newer version, I can only hope Garmin will make a fix.

Why is you Mac App Store software out of date?

One your website, youre hosting BaseCamp for Mac v4.1.1 (updated February 5), yet on the Mac App Store, youre only offering v3.3.2? Why the difference?

Dont download !!!!

Go to Garmin and download 4.1.1 That will fix the crash issue.

Buggy, Crashing, Slow, A lot of info but unusable

I am preparing a long trip aross europe but the software is not cooperating. Crashes when i add waypoints to trips, very slow performance on a latest MBP Retina with tons of RAM, to the point where i decided to not use it and go back to maps and pen-and-pencil trip planning. Garmin, you can do better than that… this is not worthy of Garmin or OSX.

cant update it so how can I review it??

The download never seems to work.

Crashes all the time

Dont download this app. Crashes all the time. A shame for an app from Garmin...

Terrible

This software is terrible. Running on my brand new mac (2013 macbook pro) with a brand new garmin etrex 20 all the program can do is crash. Needs an update.

Crashes frequently, overly complicated

This app really does crash every time I use it, and the few times Ive managed to get it to stay active for more than a few minutes, its a pain to use. The trip planner is convoluted, and thats one of the biggest reasons I wanted to use this app. Use GoogleMaps, its far more reliable and much easier to use.

Good, could use improvements

Speed is not great. #1 feature request is a global waypoint search to easily prepare trips by searching for waypoints and routes online right from basecamp - import them in basecamp and on to my device. Otherwise I need to hunt them down on forums, etc… and import them manually which is painful and time consuming. #2 requests: Maps sometimes look a bit cluttered. I’d like a simple tool to download and share my trips, and organize my online storage. connecting to my quatix sometimes takes some time / multiple attempts before the watch is ready. I’d like to send maps right from basecamp. A lot of functionalities. Compatible with all my Garmin devices. Overall very useful. Thanks garmin!

Crashes Galore

Application crashes on opening while device is connected and has for the last year of updates. Unfortunately Garmin has a monopoly on the GPS market and I’m left with a GPS without any software I can use with it. I’m in a professional field where GPS data is an absolute necessity and I have to borrow a friends Windows computer in order to sync and use Basecamp.

Difficult at Best - Disappointing

Using v4.6.6 - 21 Apr 16 - Quite difficult to use in trip planning mode. Slow to register inputs. Time consuming. Crashed twice on me in one hour. With so many using Mac products now, Garmin needs to put more resources into this. Furthermore, I could not find a planning app for iPad. If I had it over, I’d buy Tom Tom or take a look at Magellan.

Would be nice...

...if it only worked :/ Most of my GPX files created by various apps and seen properly by everything else cant be loaded to BaseCamp "blablabla is not a valid GPX file and could not be opened".

Где обновления?

На сайте Garmina, уже есть BaseCamp for Mac software version 4.0.1
